Profile

From small city courtyards to coastal and country properties, award winning garden designer Georgina Martyn is renowned for her horticultural passion and design excellence. Her gardens are celebrated for their individual and soulful style with their emphasis on creative use of plant life. Preferring to design with asymmerty, circular shapes and organic forms, her work often includes a trademark curved seat.

Winning her first gold medal in 1997, at 23, for her Landscape Display at The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show (MIFGS), Martyn quickly established herself as a leader in the industry, winning further gold medals at MIFGS in subsequent years.

Willing to experiment with concepts, materials and plants, Martyn’s work strives to break boundaries and conventional thinking. She takes an holistic approach to design, incorporating organic and Biodynamic gardening principles into her work, together with Feng Shui theory. Martyn also delights in offering imaginative play opportunities for children to develop their creativity and problem solving skills.

Implementing environmentally sustainable principles like using drought tolerant plants – both native and exotic, exploring turf alternatives, improving soil quality and installing rainwater tanks and grey water systems, are examples of Martyn’s desire to make to a positive difference to the world.
